ENVIRONMENT

ENVIRONMENT TO DISCOVER
Overloon is located in the southern part of the municipality of Land van Cuijk, bordering the municipality of Venray. On the other side of the river Maas (just a few kilometres as the crow flies) lies the municipality of Bergen with the National Park De Maasduinen. These 3 municipalities have a rich history, many places of interest, beautiful nature such as the Unesco Maasheggenlandschap and National Park De Maasduinen. Also various sporting opportunities and many cosy terraces and restaurants. There is so much to see and discover. You won’t have enough time to visit everything.
The village of Overloon has a large Plus supermarket. There are also several restaurants in different price ranges.
In the Land van Cuijk, various ‘Groeters’ (villagers) are active as hosts or hostesses to guide tourists or those who are interested. They also inform about the past of the village where they are guests.
A few kilometres away is the Unesco Maasheggen Landscape. The Maasheggen form the oldest cultural landscape in the country. There is no area in Europe where nature, landscape, economy and culture are so visibly and long-term intertwined.
National Park De Maasduinen is one of three national parks in North and Central Limburg. It is a forest and heathland area with several fens, located on an elongated sand ridge between the Meuse and the German border.

Various towns, such as Venlo, are less than half an hour’s drive away. It has a lively centre with a variety of shops, cosy terraces and various museums. A visit to Thermaalbad Arcen is wonderful when the weather is not so good. Perhaps combine it with a tour and tasting at the Hertog Jan Brewery in Arcen. Or cross the German border. The German towns of Goch and Kleve are half an hour’s drive away.

Below you will find a brief overview of places of interest. More information can be found
